Homeownership stands as one of the most powerful vehicles for building generational wealth, and it is a pathway that has historically been restricted for Black families through discriminatory policies, redlining, and exclusionary zoning practices. While those explicit barriers have been dismantled, new challenges persist: rapidly rising home prices, an insufficient supply of affordable homeownership, and zoning regulations that continue to limit working families’ access to the county’s most desirable neighborhoods.
CERG PAC 2.0 is dedicated to advocating for homeownership policies that genuinely work for Black residents and working families throughout Montgomery County. That means championing meaningful increases in affordable homeownership supply, advancing zoning reform that creates real pathways to homeownership, and supporting workforce homeownership initiatives that allow those who work in our county to put down roots here. We evaluate every candidate not on their rhetoric, but on their specific, actionable commitments to homeownership affordability and the policies that will make homeownership a realistic aspiration for our community.
