Why These Three Pillars?
CERG PAC 2.0 recognizes that the challenges facing Black residents of Montgomery County span a broad landscape — from public safety and educational opportunity to social justice, health and wellness, and civic engagement. We value and affirm the importance of each of these issues, and we understand that many are deeply interconnected with economic outcomes. Strong schools, safe neighborhoods, and accessible healthcare all contribute meaningfully to the conditions in which our community can thrive. We see these connections clearly, and we honor them. At the same time, CERG PAC 2.0 has made a deliberate and principled choice to concentrate our advocacy on the three pillars where we believe we can create the greatest and most direct economic impact: Housing, Jobs and Workforce Development, and Business Ownership and Entrepreneurship.
This choice reflects our conviction that focused, sustained advocacy is how organizations create measurable change. An organization that attempts to champion every cause risks championing none of them with the depth and commitment that produces real results. Our community is best served by an organization that can speak with authority, engage with specificity, and drive meaningful progress in the areas it has chosen to lead. Where CERG PAC 2.0 is not the primary voice, we are committed to supporting and partnering with the organizations that are. We see our focused approach not as a limitation, but as the very foundation of our effectiveness — and genuine effectiveness, achieved through principled commitment to our core pillars, is what our community deserves.
